Mixing Prints.

{{ Fashion Post Friday: Mixing Prints }}

 Aztec, florals, polka dots and stripes—simply name a mere few of the prints emerging into spring fashion. I love funky prints and think its one of the easiest and most fun ways to change things up and have fun with fashion. Though I am not the biggest believer in “fashion rules” (make your own !) here are a few I tend to abide by when wearing–or dare I say—mixing prints…

1. An aztec printed sweater, leopard top over a brown slip dress–with a pop of pink in the loafers.
2. Aztec printed leggings, texturized light teal sweater, a chunky necklace & bedazzled loafers.
3. Aztec printed dress with cutouts @ Marshall’s
4. Tribal work out tee paired with aztec yoga leggings (yes–I carried out the trend to my workout wear)
5. A tribal romper @ Marshall’s

The How-To Wear&Mix Prints Style Guide :

  1. Polka dots & stripes are always in style.
  2. When mixing two prints it is best to mix one large pattern with one small.
  3. When mixing prints—stick to two—three or more can easily become overload.
  4. Start with a color scheme when mixing prints (think—warm or cold hues)…if your still at a loss—begin by picking one bold statement piece (your print) and begin to mix and match bright colors or alternative prints–sometimes the ones you least expect turn out to go best!
  5. Leopard is a neutral.
  6. When mixing prints—accessorize with neutrals—black, camel, browns or metallic.
  7. Texturize—if mixing prints is just a huge no-no, instead try mixing a print with a textured piece (see look #2).
  8. Have fun with it–fashion should be fun and something all your own ! We are never too old to play dress up and step out of our comfort zones.
